How to Create PINs for Calling Cards

Our system provides a turnkey solution for the Calling Cards business model. Core features include the ability to create multiple prepaid packages in user subscription plans, prepare custom recurring, one time or manual charges and fees, prepare and customize PIN batches, track PIN activation and PIN utilization, real time IVR call authorization and call routing, one stage and two stage call authorization, real time call rating, costing and margin calculations, etc.

1. Create PIN Batch

PIN Batches are groups of calling card PINs – PINs can be generated by the system or uploaded by users.

Rating and Billing > PIN Batches > Add Batch

Creating the PIN batches is the first step of setting up your Calling Cards operation:

  • Batch Name – enter a unique name of the batch
  • Currency – choose the currency of the calling card
  • Face Value – enter the cost of each card
  • Number of PINS – choose the number of calling cards you will create
  • Effective Date – this the start date from which the cards will be active
  • Expiration Date – this is the last date when the cards will be active
  • Expiration days after activation – choose how long after the first call the cards will remain active

Please note that all fields marked with a red star are obligatory and must be filled.

Rating and Billing > PIN Batches > Tax Jurisdiction

You have to select whether the accounts that will be created are taxable. If yes – select the check box and complete the Tax Jurisdiction section as well.

2. Generate PINs

Rating and Billing > PIN Batches > Generate PINs

The next step is to generate the PIN numbers in the batch – PINs are unique 12 digit numbers that are used for the authentication of each calling card.

Rating and Billing > PIN Batches > View Pins

You can see all PINs in a batch here together with their details and status.

Please note that PINs are activated when first used by users – at the same time upon activation an account is automatically created by system.

Rating and Billing > PIN Batches > Upload PINs

If you have already generated your PINs the system allows you to upload them through a csv file. The csv file must contain the PIN name (free text, e.g. “1234567891234”).

Rating and Billing > PIN Batches > Export PINs

The system also allows you to export your PINs as well as all their details (number, status, value, effective date, expiration date, activation date, expiration period) in a csv file.

3. Create Subscription Plan

Rating and Billing > Subscription Plans

The next step is to create you Calling Cards subscription – since usually invoices are unnecessary for calling cards you can create plans with very long billing periods.

Please note that you should never use On Demand plans for calling cards – these plans are to be used only for the Call Shop business case.

Rating and Billing > Subscription Plans > Batches

Finally you have to assign the PIN batch to a subscription plan in order to finish the setup.

You are now ready to print and distribute your callings cards to customers.
